Valerie Bertinelli is officially divorced
After four years, Valerie Bertinelli and her husband of
almost 30 years, Tom Sullivan, have finally gone their separate ways. It's
official. My divorce is final, she told People magazine. The couple has three
sons: Jake, Matthew and Noah. With the paperwork out of the way, Valerie is
looking forward to a fresh start in life. I'm excited about the future, she
says. She just wrapped filming on the second season of TV Land show Valerie
Bertinelli Unplugged. She also released a new cookbook called We're Cooking
Now!: Delicious Recipes for Today's Family Gathering and it hit stores this
week. In addition, she launched her own line of food products called VB Foods.
She is celebrating with optimism
Walking out of the courtroom after her divorce became
official, Valerie Bertinelli was beaming. The judge had finalized their divorce
and she was relieved to have it done. This day has been a long time coming, she
says in a statement to E! News. I am so happy that we can both move on and live
our lives as we see fit. The actress, who was married for 20 years to husband
Tom Vitale, continued: Divorce is never easy but it is especially difficult
when there are children involved. For our son's sake I am very grateful that we
can find happiness apart as he grows up. As an only child I always wanted my
kids to experience having siblings but unfortunately that won't happen. When
Valerie discovered at 41-years-old she was pregnant with twins (Matthew and
Laila), Valerie assumed that getting divorced would not be possible because of
her upcoming new family situation. They managed to negotiate a settlement
without much trouble which surprised her because they couldn't even agree on
what type of car they should buy. They spent most of their marriage fighting
about everything from what they were going to eat for dinner or where they
would go on vacation next year, Valerie recalls thinking at the time; now they
are happily moving forward separately while still managing co-parenting
together.
She feels like she has a new lease on life
At the time, Valerie Bertinelli had never been happier. She
felt like she had a new lease on life. It was hard to believe that just a few
weeks ago she was fearing for her safety, but now she was free and ready to
move forward in her life as a single woman. Valerie Bertinelli has moved
forward from being one of Hollywood’s most famous divorcees to a successful
chef who has found love again.
She is looking forward to the future
I am so happy to finally have my divorce finalized, said
Valerie Bertinelli. It feels so good to be moving forward, and I'm thrilled
that this will allow me the freedom to explore new relationships.
Bertinelli has spent the past year in an amicable
relationship with her ex-husband's best friend, Will Reeve. The two ended their
relationship at the beginning of July, but she is optimistic about finding love
again. We had a beautiful friendship and I feel like we're even better friends
now, she said.
I believe that people can find true happiness in any
circumstance if they are willing to do the work on themselves and not take
anything for granted. My journey of self-discovery has led me to realize that
it's never too late to create your own happiness.
She encourages others in similar situations to celebrate their divorce
Valerie Bertinelli is celebrating her divorce becoming
official. The woman who rose to fame on the 1980s sitcom One Day at a Time, has
been married four times and was still married when she filed for divorce from
her husband of 18 years, Tom Vitale. She is optimistic about what this new
opportunity will bring. It's not always an easy thing to do to be making a
decision like that, she said. I think it's important to find reasons to
celebrate.
Her first divorce was finalized in 1997 and Valerie says
that it can be helpful for people going through a divorce to look back on their
marriage and find the things they were grateful for before moving forward into
the next chapter of their lives.
